News:

UPCO, Inc. has achieved a Sigma Six level of quality in regard to field failures. During the past 7 years there have been only six rod failures due to manufacturing or field defects while the company has produced and shipped over 1,765,000 rods. This is a failure rate of less than 3.4 failures per million.

UPCO provides either Type T or Spray Metal rod couplings with superb dimensional consistency. Beginning with cold drawn, AISI 1045M bar stock, UPCO couplings are machined to API 11B specifications. The threads are applied through cold forming and the couplings are black oxide coated to reduce thread galling and to protect the coupling from atmospheric corrosion. For enhanced resistance to abrasion and corrosion the high quality T couplings are flame sprayed with a nickel-chromium powdered metal coating. To the best of our knowledge there have been no field failures caused by application. With UPCO couplings you are getting the BEST.

  • AISI 1045M micro-alloyed, special bar quality steel
  • Raw bar NDT inspected
  • Oversize diameters available
  • Cold rolled threads

Polished Rod Coupling Labeling

In the field when you have boxes of Sucker Rod Couplings and one Polished Rod Coupling, we all know that the single coupling can be difficult to keep separated. In an effort to assist the rig crew and get the correct coupling on the polished rod, UPCO, Inc. now provides a white vinyl "Polished Rod Coupling" label on each coupling. The label is easily removed and clearly identifies the coupling.

  • Polished rod couplings and subcouplings are marked with the letters "PR" in front of "UPCO".
  • Polished rod couplings and subcouplings have a 1/4 inch deep counterbore and 9 degree taper.
  • The lack of matching tapers on sucker rod couplings and polished rod pins will prevent proper makeup.
  • The use of standard rod couplings on polished rods can result in split couplings.
